This is a brand I've been familiar with since its Laurel days, before the company name changed to SHIRO.
Currently, the brand is expanding its stores both domestically and internationally, primarily in the Kanto region, but also in Hokkaido, Aichi, Osaka, and Fukuoka prefectures, with its momentum growing year by year. However, its predecessor, Laurel, was originally a souvenir shop in its home region of Hokkaido, selling items like herbs and soaps.
It was here that the current representative, Mr. Imai, as the person in charge, focused his efforts on creating cosmetics utilizing herbs.
From there, he skillfully incorporated the trends of the time and, despite having no prior experience, completed the Herb Water Mist with the help of those around him, establishing a foundation for handling all processes from development to manufacturing in-house.
He took over the company at the age of 26.
Subsequently, to leverage the strengths of their in-house factory, they shifted from souvenir shops to daily necessities.
Furthermore, in 2009, to realize their desire to create products they themselves would want to use every day, they established their own brand, LAUREL.
From the beginning, their commitment to not compromising on the materials used in product creation and delivering those materials directly to the skin has remained unchanged.
Their lotions using local specialty ingredients like sake lees and konbu were also huge hits.
While this is called ethical today, it was a groundbreaking initiative at the time.
After that, they launched fabric mists and dish soaps in scents like Savon and White Lily, which became major hits.
In 2019, with an eye on overseas expansion, they changed their company name, continuing to express casualness, unconstrained ideas, and flexibility.
SHIRO, with its diverse product development and continued support, is now almost always mentioned as a benchmark company.
