Large 12" Japanese Kutani Kosen Kiln Porcelain Vase Hand Painted Crane Signed
Kutani Kosen Kiln
An exceptional, large 12-inch vintage Japanese Kutani porcelain vase produced by the historic Kutani Kosen Kiln (九谷光仙窯) of Kanazawa, Japan. This mid-century export piece features a brilliant, centralized hand-painted crane (tsuru)—the Japanese cultural symbol of longevity, good fortune, and peace. The artistry features masterfully executed iron-red overglaze enamels (Aka-e) combined with striking gold-gilded detailing (Kinrande style). The main panel showcases the magnificent crane surrounded by blooming peonies and chrysanthemums, while the reverse side showcases an intricate geometric medallion and traditional scrollwork. The bottom features the authentic hand-painted underglaze iron-red studio mark alongside the English handpainted export identifier. Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, structural repairs, or crazing. Hand-painted enamel is vivid and the gold gilt exhibits minimal to no handling wear.
