Vintage General Electric metal wall clock model #2H08 - runs, missing glass dome
General Electric
Wonderful vintage General Electric metal kitchen wall clock model #2H08, in a classic square shape. Sweet green with a hint of blue color. This clock is an iconic early 20th Century design produced from 1937 to 1948 by General Electric in Ashland, MA It is marked General Electric on the face in black letters; the numerals are black and the hours are also marked with red dots. The clock works; it keeps good time when plugged in and it is silent--a vital quality in a wall clock! But it is also missing the glass dome cover and little brass screwcap on the bottom edge for adjusting time (the screw shaft is there but the screw cover is missing). The time can easily be adjusted manually by moving the hands. Under the 12 there is a circle that changes from red to neutral to black as the minutes pass -- this doesn't seem to be working correctly but it does move as the minutes go by. The red second hand is slightly bent but operates smoothly. Various scuffs and scratches in the paint on the front and sides as shown in the pictures do not detract from this pretty and stylish vintage clock! One corner has a small dent that can be felt but doesn't show (the dent is in the metal part that curves back from the corner, not the face of the corner) and there are two minor dents in the aluminum circle around the clock face, also not noticeable unless you're looking for them. Size - 7.25L x 7.25W x 2.25D A good design in not entirely complete condition but still a fun and useful clock.
