Vintage 1970s Mexican Barro Rojo Fish Planter on Custom Iron Stand

A wonderful vintage 1970s Mexican barro rojo fish planter displayed on its original hand-wrought iron stand. Beautifully sculptural even without plants, this substantial piece features rich burnished terracotta tones created during firing, deeply textured scales, carved fins, and openings at both the mouth and tail for use as a planter if desired. The clay is exceptionally thick—up to approximately 1 inch in places—giving it an impressive weight and architectural presence. The custom iron stand fits the fish perfectly and retains a vintage Hecho en Mexico sticker on one foot. Size: Fish measures approximately 12” from mouth to tail and 11.5” tall from belly to highest tail point. Condition: No chips or cracks. Minor surface rubbing where the fish rests on the stand, blending naturally into the varied fired finish. Beautiful vintage patina throughout. NPK(psh, WN)-
