Vintage 1940 Hull Pottery Sun Glow Grease Jar #53 | Collectible USA Pottery
Hull Pottery
Vintage Hull Pottery USA Sunglow grease jar #53 in pastel pink and green, a collectible American pottery piece with floral relief. This is an authentic Hull Pottery Sunglow grease jar, form #53, made in the USA. Hull’s Sunglow line is part of the broader tradition of American art and utility pottery, which remains a highly collectible niche among vintage pottery enthusiasts. The jar features Hull’s signature soft pastel pink and green blended glaze with raised floral relief. The front displays two flowers side-by-side, the back features a single raised flower, and the lid is finished with a raised leaf sprig, adding sculptural texture and visual depth. As expected with a working grease jar, this piece shows extensive glaze crazing throughout, along with interior discoloration from original use. The interior also shows firing marks and age-related wear. The jar remains watertight, but due to the level of crazing and age, it is best suited as decorative vintage kitchenalia rather than functional food storage. Size • Height (to top of lid knob): approx. 5 inches • Diameter (widest point): approx. 6 inches Condition • Heavy, even crazing throughout (typical for age) • Interior discoloration consistent with original grease-jar use • Small chips on the base • One moderate-sized chip on the underside of the inner rim (not visible when lid is closed) • Firing cracks present; jar remains watertight • No repairs observed Markings • Stamped “USA 53” on base
