Description
This is a sake flask (tokkuri) and cups (ochoko) made in the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture.
These are sold as a set.
The color is called BENI (Red), a deep hue that blends well with both Japanese and Western tableware.
The technique of shaving the surface of the pottery to create a textured, uneven surface is called shinogi.
The shinogi technique creates a rich, deep look with the glaze appearing in stripes.
The rounded shape is easy to hold and provides stability.
