According to JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) standards:
Kiwami (Supreme): Beautiful shape, 18 degrees Brix or higher.
Tokuhide (Extra Superior): Beautiful shape, slightly less than Kiwami, 16 degrees Brix or higher.
Hide (Superior): Beautiful shape, slightly less than Tokuhide, 14 degrees Brix or higher.
Yuu (Excellent): Shape is less perfect than Hide, 13 degrees Brix or higher.
A: Shape and appearance are less perfect, 12 degrees Brix or higher.
In Ibaraki Prefecture, only melons shipped through JA are selected with a light sensor; other melons are not.
Shipping cooperatives do not have light sensors and therefore cannot determine sugar content, so we do not stock those melons.
