The 1st image shows about 8 plants simply inserted into an ashtray that had not been used for decades.

You may see wild Cyperus, and our plants also continue to grow and reach over 2 meters if not thinned.
It is a relative of papyrus, brought to Japan from Madagascar as an ornamental plant.
It has become a weed in waters like reservoirs, but it seems unable to reproduce in areas where water freezes. It is cold-hardy and evergreen, and will be fine as long as it is not frozen.
It also appears to have water purification properties.

This plant was included in a biotope set for killifish at a home improvement store.
It grows with just water, and does not grow large with just water.

In our home, in the summer, we grow it hydroponically in empty bottles or cups as shown in the first image, or in unique pots we found in recent years (5th image). It's like a summer foliage plant. Both are kept indoors.
Some people also make moss balls with it. (6th and 7th images are reference images)

Due to the nature of this plant, some leaves may turn brown, which is why the product condition is displayed as shown.
It grows small in hydroponics or pots, and large when planted in the ground.
What appears to be leaves are actually bracts, and the true leaves seem to have atrophied.
