Gory Obake Kurotsuyamushi 76mm Specimen (with case)

This is a large specimen of Proculus goryi, one of the largest species in the Tenebrionidae family, native to Central America, Guatemala.
This species is known for its overwhelming physique befitting the name Obake (ghost/monster) and its appearance with a deep, jet-black, strong luster, boasting enduring popularity in the specimen market.

This hefty 76mm large individual is well-balanced from its rounded pronotum to its strongly protruding elytra, allowing you to fully appreciate the characteristic heavy form of darkling beetles. The black luster that changes depending on the angle of light is a charm unique to natural specimens.

This species primarily feeds on decaying wood and decomposed organic matter, playing an important role in supporting the forest ecosystem. As they are nocturnal, outdoor discovery examples are limited, and large, complete individuals are highly valuable for collections.

This specimen is a wild-caught item from Guatemala, with no missing legs, antennae, or elytra, and is in good condition suitable for display, research, or appreciation. It is recommended as the centerpiece of a large beetle collection or for those who prefer unusual beetles.
