Mitate ware Sometsuke Hyogo Museum of Ceramic Art
Large Plate, Approx. 55cm Width
Sanda ware blue and white shishi and peony large plate. Edo period. With box.
This is the actual piece that was exhibited at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art's exhibition, Collecting the Essence of Tamba Ware and Sanda Ware - Masterpieces from the Mori Moto Collection -, and was also featured in the exhibition catalog.
This large plate appears to have been a representative work among the exhibits, and was featured most prominently in the exhibition's leaflet.
Dimensions are approximately 54.5-55cm in width and 10-11.5cm in height.
Such a large Sanda blue and white piece is extremely rare, I believe.
No particular scratches or repairs.
There is some glaze pooling and crazing.
There is some minor chipping around the rim (glaze peeling).
Please be aware of other imperfections such as kiln cracks, foreign matter, stains, and dirt.
Please check the images for condition and details.
The wooden box shown in the images is included, but the wooden box is rather small, and when the plate is placed inside, the rim of the plate rubs against the box. Please be aware of this.
Thank you for looking.
