Description
Yaginoshima Asagi
Size: 207 x 75 x 34 mm
This whetstone was purchased directly from Tanaka Toishi. It is a high-quality, relatively soft stone that is easy to sharpen.
The black sesame pattern spreads across the entire surface, providing good responsiveness and high grinding power. It can also be used on the cutting edge of knives to effectively remove scratches.
A Nakayama Nashi-ji stone is included as a set. This is a current Nakayama quarry stone, but it has a beautiful nashi-ji finish reminiscent of older Nakayama stones, indicating high quality.
A groove has been added to address wobbling, and it is included as a nagura for mud removal.
When properly mud-dressed with Nakayama on the Yaginoshima, the result is a finish where the boundary between the soft iron and the cutting edge stands out clearly.
