Military Sighting Compass Professional
Stored at home.
A substantial multi-compass.
Includes instructions.
1. How to use the compass
A compass is a precision instrument. It is typically used in conjunction with a map. To improve measurement accuracy, place the compass on a stable tripod (this product has a screw hole for connecting to a camera tripod) and refer to the local magnetic declination.
2. Orientation
Place this product on a level surface. Ensure the cover and base are at a right angle. Align the crosshair and the sighting fork with the target. The bearing angle to the target point is indicated by the scale corresponding to the red line as seen through the side glass.
3. Determining coordinates and finding targets
If you know the coordinates of your target, first read the known coordinates and align them with the red zero line on the mirror. Then, observe the target through the crosshair and sighting fork.
4. Map orientation
First, reset the compass to zero. Place it on the map so that the edge of the compass ruler is aligned with or parallel to the map's meridian (longitude). Rotate the map and compass together until the 360° scale on the dial aligns with the zero line. The map is now oriented to match the natural terrain features.
