Townswoman's Battledore

Description

Purchased at the Hagoita (battledore) market in Asakusa several decades ago.

This item holds a Tenarai Zoshi (practice notebook), which I've researched to be like a notebook for practicing calligraphy at temple schools.

It's likely a decoration to wish for a child's improvement in their studies. How about as a decoration for your Hina doll display?

The hair ornament and the kanoko shibori (a type of tie-dyeing) peeking out from the obiage (sash accessory) are also lovely.

I believe it's in relatively good condition, but it has been stored in a closet for many years (still wrapped in the original transparent film). Therefore, it is not in new condition. Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive about such details.

Height: 50cm
Width: 18cm
Depth: 6.5cm
