Description

This piece was composed by Toshiya Machida to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Kansai Gakuin University Band, part of the Kansai Gakuin University Support Group.
The inspiration for the work comes from the story of the patriarch Jacob's dream in the Old Testament. In his dream, Jacob sees a ladder reaching to heaven. This ladder has inspired many artists as a symbol connecting the earth and the heavens.
The rungs of this Ladder to Heaven symbolize the virtues and growth that people accumulate one by one throughout their lives, and the music expresses spiritual elevation and inner change throughout the piece.
This is a wind ensemble piece filled with deep meaning and emotion, showcasing Toshiya Machida's delicate yet passionate style.

The wind ensemble piece Jacob's Ladder to a Crescent offers a unique musical experience by Toshiya Machida.
