Description
As a piano tuner, you can purchase with confidence. This is a Korean-made piano, but it features a Royal George hammer from England and Röslau strings from Germany, producing a gorgeous and bright European-style tone.

The year of manufacture is estimated to be around 1980. The bridle tapes and flange cords, which are prone to deterioration over time, are in good condition. (These parts are often deteriorated in private sales and can affect rapid repetition, such as light trills.) The key lead felt and mutes have been replaced. The bushing cloth is also in good condition with no looseness, providing a smooth touch.

The hammer heads have been reshaped into a beautiful oval through filing, enhancing the bright overtones. Metal parts such as strings, tuning pins, balance pins, front pins, pedals, and hinges have been meticulously rust-removed, restoring their brilliant tone and smooth touch. Professional maintenance has been performed on all aspects, including key leveling, action regulation, hammer strike distance, hammer approach, and hammer stop.

A weakness of this type of piano is the sluggishness of the action due to humidity, known as sticking. While many manufacturers have switched to plastic for the jack part, this piano retains its original wooden jack. This means it requires some attention to maintenance, but in return, you can enjoy the unique touch and tone that only wood can provide.

Some of the bass strings show signs of bon-sen (unresponsive due to deterioration), but for those who don't play aggressively, this lack of heavy bass can lead to a gentler, more subdued playing experience.

With dimensions of 121cm (height) x 150cm (width) x 61cm (depth), it is equivalent to a Yamaha Type 1, but the touch feels closer to a Type 3 in weight. It is not excessively heavy.

The exterior is a deep mahogany, appearing almost black from a distance, giving it an elegant, understated look. It has been polished to a brilliant shine with wool buffing.

Although made in Korea, it bears the Japanese JIS mark and is comparable to domestic Japanese pianos. You can try playing it at our workshop in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. We highly recommend trying the piano before purchasing to check the exterior and touch. Included with the purchase are: initial tuning (for nearby areas only), a bench, sound-insulating insulators, a key cover, wax, and a cloth. Shipping costs are separate.

We highly recommend this piano for those looking to upgrade from an electronic piano, those seeking a well-made instrument despite its age, and those who are not fixated on Japanese brands like Yamaha. Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
