YBA2α Preamp (Early Type) - Fully Serviced

This unit is currently in use, so the maintenance costs have been added to the used sale price.
The musicality of this machine from its prime era is truly wonderful. Listening to it again made me reluctant to part with it.

YBA2α Preamplifier - Fully Maintained

Purchased used and fully serviced (approx. 180,000 yen) by a specialized shop in the Hokuriku region (one of the leading YBA dealers in Japan, with a reputation for repair expertise).
Details of Maintenance:
All German Roederstein electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with the current YBA's blue-purple Vishay capacitors (see image 9).
Independent left and right volume controls were disassembled and serviced.
Other board checks were performed.

The shop pointed out that the gold-colored capacitors often seen in used YBA units are overseas electrolytic capacitors, and due to their age, they invariably suffer from degradation. While they still produce sound, they are not performing at their original capacity. I have personally experienced this difference after the replacement.

According to the shop, replacing the capacitors required specialized skills and careful work to adjust the board due to differences in size from the current specifications. Their deep affection for YBA and their high regard for the charm and capabilities of early YBA units were impressive, even though they acknowledged that FM Acoustics ultimately surpasses them in overall performance.
Furthermore, to enhance sound quality, Lepton Power Conductor Grease has been applied to the internal negative terminals and capacitors.

Although the full maintenance cost was high, I have been able to listen with peace of mind since then, with no issues. The sound is truly that of a French-made YBA.
Its direction is completely different from Japanese-made equipment, with a captivating allure and expressive power that is exceptional. It pairs particularly well with European speakers, with early YBA units offering a distinct advantage.

I compared it with the later electronic volume type that comes with a remote control. I felt that the electronic volume type leans towards a beautiful sound, while the analog volume type excels in musical expression (personal opinion).
