Description
The Leftovers: Essays by Shaelyn Smith, winner of the 2017 Essay Collection Competition selected by Renee Gladman. Published by the CSU Poetry Center, this paperback collection explores themes of art, nature, violence, and feminist empathy through a brainy, ecological lens. Smith utilizes a skilled collagist approach to reassemble the female body and contemporary experience, drawing inspiration from Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party. A masterpiece of fierce intelligence and deep emotion, this volume is essential reading for those interested in journalistic obsession and poetically seductive prose.
