This is a representative armor vest used by the US Army during the Vietnam War. The inside of the vest originally had layers of Kevlar fabric, making it quite heavy. However, this particular item has no inserts.
The reason for this is unknown.
Therefore, it is a lightweight nylon vest that can be easily incorporated into everyday fashion.
While vests up to the 1960s had zipper fronts, from the 1970s onwards, they were changed to Velcro fronts.
