Toshimaya Hakukodo Kamakura-bori 125th Anniversary Commemorative Item with Box Hato Sablé 25.10.4-2

This is a Kamakura-bori (Kamakura carving) piece created by Toshimaya, famous for its Hato Sablé, as a commemorative item for their 125th anniversary (2019).

The characters 豊 (Yutaka/To) and 鳩 (Hato/Pigeon) were written by Shigeho Yoshida, the chief priest of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, and based on his calligraphy, Hakukodo, a Kamakura-bori artisan, created this piece. It is entirely made in Kamakura.＾＾ The characters 豊 and 鳩, written with flowing brushstrokes, are expressed in a calm vermilion color characteristic of Kamakura-bori.

We hope to pass this on to those who love Toshimaya, those who love Hakukodo's works, and those who collect slightly unusual Kamakura-bori pieces.＾＾
