Beautiful vintage Lucretia Vanderbilt New York vanity powder box, dating to approximately the late 1920s. The oval box features a deep navy/cobalt blue enamel exterior with an elegant butterfly motif and Art Deco-style scrollwork in a gold-tone finish. The butterfly design is repeated on the inside of the lid. Inside is the original metal arm/puff holder marked Lucretia Vanderbilt New York. Measures approximately 3/4 wide and about 2 1/2 tall. Very good antique pre-owned condition and is consistent with age, with surface scratches, tarnish, oxidation and wear to the interior metal. The exterior enamel still presents beautifully with attractive color and design. Please review photos closely as they are part of the description. A wonderful piece of early American vanity history and a lovely collectible for anyone interested in vintage cosmetics, Art Deco accessories, powder boxes or antique dressing-table pieces.
