Description
Antique Duncan No. 400 Three Face covered compote, a striking example of Early American Pattern Glass dating to the late 19th century. Attributed to George Duncan & Sons of Pittsburgh, this celebrated pattern was patented in 1878 and is distinguished by three frosted classical female faces surrounding the pedestal stem and repeated on the sculptural lid finial. Clear pressed glass contrasts beautifully with the frosted satin figural elements, while radiating molded panels beneath the bowl add further dimension. The unusual covered pedestal form makes this an especially impressive display piece for collectors of EAPG, Victorian glass, and early American pressed glass. Condition: Very good antique condition. Light surface wear and minor manufacturing irregularities consistent with 19th-century pressed glass may be present, including small bubbles and mold or annealing marks. No major chips or cracks observed. Please review photos carefully.
