Vtg MCM Sculptural Art Glass Bowl Ice Bucket Silver Band Dorothy Thorpe Style
Unbranded
Striking vintage Mid Century Modern sculptural clear glass bowl or ice bucket featuring a dramatic asymmetrical flared rim and exceptionally wide metallic silver band. The bold organic shape and wide silver overlay are strongly associated with Dorothy Thorpe-era cocktail and entertaining glassware of the 1950s–60s. Dorothy Thorpe famously decorated commercially produced glass blanks with broad silver overlays; however, similar silver-banded glassware was also produced by other manufacturers during the period. This piece is unmarked and retains no original label, so we are selling it as Dorothy Thorpe style / attributed rather than guaranteeing the designer. A fabulous statement piece for a Mid Century bar, cocktail cart or dining table. The sculptural form works beautifully as an ice bucket, serving bowl, centerpiece or decorative vessel. Approximate measurements: • Width: 9 • Height at highest point: approximately 6½ • Heavy clear glass construction • Wide silver-tone metallic band Condition: Good vintage condition overall. Glass appears free of major chips or cracks. The silver band shows visible age-related wear, including areas of finish loss, rubbing and surface wear, particularly around the rim. Please review photos closely as they are part of the condition description. Unmarked. Vintage glassware should be hand washed; avoid dishwasher use or abrasive cleaners on the metallic finish. **Cover photo is AI generated and included for styling ideas**
