Antique Cast Iron Sad Iron Trivet Rest Handle Starburst Floral Footed c1900-1930

Antique cast iron handled trivet / sad iron rest, likely dating to the early 20th century. Features an ornate circular openwork design with a central floral/starburst motif, textured decorative handle and raised feet on the underside. These sturdy cast iron rests were used to hold hot flat irons or other heated household items while protecting the work surface. The decorative design also makes this a great primitive farmhouse, laundry room or antique kitchen display piece. Measures approximately 8¼ inches long. Good antique condition with expected surface wear, scratches, finish variation and areas of oxidation from age and use. There appears to be a faint cast/impressed marking on the underside, but the manufacturer has not been positively identified. Please review all photos closely as they are part of the condition description. Part of a large estate sale. New items posted weekly.
