Rare Vintage 1993 RED GROOMS Ruckus Taxi Cab Purple Hat- NYC Exhibition - New

This is a very rare piece of wearable pop art history!  I always loved Pop Artists who feature caricatures of NYC in their work.  This is circa 1993 from Red Grooms’ Grand Central exhibition. I thought it was so cool that his interactive art exhibit was in one of the busiest hubs in the world. It was a perfect match, since Red Grooms’ art is cartoonish, playful, loud, and chaotic—just like the city it reflects.  The “Ruckus” taxi, as featured on the hat, became Grooms’ signature based on his work back in the 70s & recreated as 3-D lithographs in the 80s.  This hat is the first time Grooms’ famous Ruckus Taxi design was officially produced as wearable art.  Size:  Adjustable (Fits approx 20”-23.5” circumference w/ two snaps fastened for the wider circumference)  Brim Length: Approx 2-1/2” Crown Depth:  Approx 6”   Condition:  New/Unused Vintage; Color vibrancy remains perfectly preserved on outside of hat; Embroidery is tight, Brim is crisp.  Back of the hat is more pliable than the embroidered front. I did have it stored where the back of the hat was pushed into the front so some superficial creases. This hat has been kept in clean/smoke-free storage.  I’ve never worn it other than trying it on a couple times.
