Description
Original 1944 World War II Christmas card illustrated by Celia Engel, featuring a dramatic hand-drawn image of the Arc de Triomphe, Allied ships, and a symbolic map of Europe bathed in golden beams of liberation. An eagle soars above, carrying holly and a Merry Xmas banner, with smoke rising from war-torn buildings — likely symbolizing key battlefronts of the time. This emotionally powerful card captures the hope and patriotic sentiment of the holiday season in the final year of WWII. The back features a handwritten message expressing a wish for the soldiers' safe return by the following Christmas. * Artist-signed in print: Celia Engel * Dated: 1944 * Handwritten holiday message on the reverse * Produced during the Allied liberation of Europe Size: Refer to photo for scale.
