Vintage Ceramica Excelsis David Shepherd Boy Figurine - Bisque Porcelain 1980

A striking bisque porcelain figurine of the young David — shepherd boy, harpist, and future king of Israel — from Ceramica Excelsis (Roman, Inc.), dated ©1980 and marked CE 28 on the base. David is shown seated on a rocky hillside among his flock, dressed in a simple draped tunic with a red sash and leather sandals, a purple cord tied around his curls. In his hands he holds a small lyre, a nod to his gift for music and the psalms he'd later compose — long before the sling and stone made him a legend. Two lambs rest at his feet, keeping him company as he watches over the flock, capturing that quiet, before-the-throne moment in his story. The sculpting is genuinely lovely: soft matte bisque finish, hand-painted detail in the face and drapery, realistic wool texture on the lambs, and a base worked to look like stacked stone and tufted grass. Details: Measures 7.75 tall; oval base approximately 6.5 x 4.5 Marked on base: CE 28, Ceramica Excelsis © 1980, with Roman, Inc. blue R logo tag Matte bisque porcelain Vintage condition — please see photos for wear consistent with age; light marks visible on the base A wonderful piece for anyone drawn to biblical figures, shepherd art, or vintage religious porcelain.
