From the TAMA product page:
This snare drum blends the rich overtones and thick shell resonance unique to brass shells with the clear attack provided by the Grooved Hoop.
While maintaining the stable sound characteristic of metal shells, it achieves a soft and warm resonance. Depending on the snare tension and drumhead adjustment, this snare offers a wide range of expressiveness, from a sharp, metal-shell-like sound to a sweet, comfortable, and full-bodied sound.
