Vintage MCM melamine covered Butter Dish in baby blue

Vintage MCM melamine covered Butter Dish in baby blue This specific piece is a vintage mid-century modern melamine covered butter dish. The single side-extended handle and the raised decorative corner scroll flourishes are highly distinct characteristics of vintage plastic dinnerware from the 1950s or 1960s. Produced in the USA, it utilizes a classic rectangular silhouette inspired by traditional Toleware and mid-century aesthetic designs. The side-extended handle was a highly functional post-war trend. It allowed homemakers to easily retrieve the butter from compact mid-century refrigerator doors using just one hand, leaving the other free to carry plates. Do NOT use in a microwave.
