【Handwritten One-of-a-Kind】 Zen Phrase Scroll "Setsugetsuka" Tea Ceremony Utensil Year-Round Hanging Four Seasons Tea Ceremony

Thank you for viewing.

Setsugetsuka (Snow, Moon, Flowers)

[Meaning of the words]
This is a collective term for the most beautiful natural scenery representing the four seasons: snow (winter), moon (autumn), and flowers (spring). It symbolizes the Japanese aesthetic of miyabi (elegance) and furyu (refinement), and originated from a poem by the poet Bai Juyi (Hakurakuten), which conveys the sentiment of deeply cherishing loved ones (or things) in one's heart when experiencing the beautiful scenery of nature.
Because this phrase represents the beauty of each season rather than being limited to a specific season, it is highly valued as a year-round hanging scroll in tea ceremonies.

[Features of the artwork]

Created with an awareness of the beauty of strength and empty space, harmonizing the tranquility of snow, the elegance of the moon, and the splendor of flowers.

The **empty space** between characters evokes a sense of natural expanse and stillness, bringing a sense of ease to the viewer's heart.
