Vintage Mid-Century Modern Glass Salt and Pepper Shakers with Mustard Yellow Lid

There’s a particular shade of gold that belongs to a certain kind of kitchen — the one with the sunburst clock on the wall and a percolator always warm on the stove. These little shakers lived in that world, passed hand to hand across the table without anyone giving them a second thought, which is exactly why they still feel so honest today. This is a vintage Federal Housewares salt and pepper set, made by the Federal Housewares Glass Company out of Chicago, Illinois — the maker’s mark is stamped right into the glass on the bottom. The mustard-gold plastic caps are molded with “Salt” and “Pepper” in a soft cursive script, a small detail that most sets like this have long since lost. ✦ The Details • Federal Housewares Glass Company, Chicago, Illinois • Mid-century era, circa 1960s • Clear pressed glass bodies with harvest gold screw-on plastic lids • “Salt” and “Pepper” embossed in script on the underside of each lid • Approximately 3.5 inches tall • Light surface wear and mild fading on the plastic lids consistent with age • Glass is clean and clear — no chips or cracks • Federal Housewares maker’s mark embossed on the glass bottoms ✦ Perfect For • Federal Housewares and mid-century glassware collectors • Retro kitchen and harvest gold décor • A working set for the table, not just a shelf piece • Styling alongside other MCM kitchen glass • A nostalgic gift for someone who grew up with a set just like it ✦ Shipping Ships carefully wrapped and cushioned.
