[Description]
This is a short sword from the former Imperial Japanese Navy with sharkskin wrapped around the handle.
The blade is not a real sword and has no edge, making it a safe replica sword that cannot cut even if pressed with a finger. It is believed to have been used as a command or ceremonial sword.
The cherry blossom emblem appears to be made of celluloid rather than common metal, suggesting it might be a late-war model from the late Showa period when resources were scarce.
Personally, I believe this is a very valuable wartime relic that conveys a sense of historical background.
The replica blade is rusted due to age, but the retaining catch operates normally, and it can be smoothly drawn and sheathed with little damage, so the condition is not bad.
Additionally, the characteristic double-ringed suspension loop is not distorted, and the stopper spring, although from the original period, is still effective, preventing the sword from falling out even when inverted.
